“In the time of Herod…”
That’s how Luke begins the story of Jesus—setting the scene in a world filled with fear: oppression, uncertainty, and deep division. A world not so unlike our own. Yet into that fearful time, angels appear with a daring message: “Do not be afraid.”

Each Sunday of Advent through Epiphany, we take those words seriously.
We’ll explore how Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, and the magi all met their fears with faith—how they questioned, trusted, and said, “Here I am, Lord.”

In a world that still trembles with fear, we’re invited to do the same.
To name our fears without letting them rule us.
To transform fear into love and courage.
To see how God is still breaking in—with good news of great joy for all people.

Each Sunday of Advent, we light candles and sing carols because we believe God entered a frightened world to bring hope. That hope isn’t flimsy—it’s fierce, resilient, and enduring.

This season, join us as we listen again for the angels’ voices, face our fears with faith, and rediscover the truth that good news is always greater than fear.
