This Week's Faith Challenge: Deep Roots, Living Water

Sunday we talked about being planted like a tree by a stream — roots that go looking for water long before the drought ever comes. The real question isn't whether you own a Bible. It's whether you're reaching for it.

This week, we're inviting you to try it the way John Wesley did: Read. Pray. Compare. Meditate. Ask.

Opening Prayer (Prayer the prayer before reading Day 1 scripture)

God of the Living Word, as I begin this week, plant these words in me. I don't ask to master them — only to let them reach the roots. Where I am dry, water me. Where I am distracted, slow me down enough to hear. Amen.

A short reading each day, all circling around Sunday's theme:

  • Day 1: Psalm 1:1-6 — The tree planted by streams of water
  • Day 2: 2 Timothy 3:14-17 — Scripture that trains and equips
  • Day 3: Jeremiah 17:7-8 — Roots that reach for water even in drought

Sit down somewhere quiet. Open to the day's reading. Before you start, ask God to help you understand it — not just information, but understanding. No pressure to catch up if you miss a day. This isn't a streak to protect.

Closing Prayer (pray once you've made it through all seven days)

Gracious God, thank You for meeting me in these words this week. Whatever took root, let it grow. Whatever I couldn't get to, meet me there another day. I don't want a faith that lives only on the surface — grow me deep, so that whatever season comes, I'm still standing, still bearing fruit. In Jesus' name, Amen.
