TEACH US TO PRAY
Praying Through Luke's Version of the Lord's Prayer

This week, we're praying through Luke's account of the Lord's Prayer (Luke 11:2–4) — the version Jesus gave in answer to His disciples' request, "Lord, teach us to pray." Each day, sit with one phrase. Let it slow you down enough to actually mean it.

(Each Day)Call to Worship — Psalm 5:1–3

Give ear to my words, O Lord;
consider my meditation.
Hearken unto the voice of my cry,
for unto You will I pray.

(Each Day)Opening Prayer

O God who gives good gifts, this week teach me to pray the way Your Son taught His disciples. Let this prayer become as natural as breathing — and let me actually mean what I say. Amen.

Day 1 — "Father"
Before you ask for anything today, sit for a minute in that relationship.
Question: Is it easier for you to approach God as Father, or as something more distant — Judge, Boss, Authority? What would change if Father were truly your default?

Day 2 — "Hallowed be your name"
Notice one thing today that makes you want to say God's name with reverence.
Question: Where in your week does God's name get used carelessly — by you, or around you — and what would it look like to guard it?

Day 3 — "Your kingdom come"
Act like God's kingdom is already here in one moment today — a kindness, a patience, a fairness you wouldn't normally choose.
Question: What's one part of your life you've quietly kept outside God's kingdom — still running by your own rules instead of His?

Day 4 — "Give us each day our daily bread"
Name one thing you're depending on God for today, out loud.
Question: What are you currently trying to secure for yourself that you've never actually asked God for?

Day 5 — "Forgive us our sins, as we forgive"
Pray for someone you're holding something against, even if you're not ready to talk to them yet.
Question: Is your own forgiveness of others currently keeping pace with how much you're asking God to forgive you?

Day 6 — "Do not bring us to the time of trial"
Name one place you feel weak or tempted right now, and ask God directly for help.
Question: What's the temptation you're most tempted to handle on your own instead of naming it out loud to God?

Day 7 — Pray the Whole Prayer
Pray Luke's version of the Lord's Prayer in full, slowly, phrase by phrase.
Question: Which line from this week is still sitting with you — and why?

(Each Day)Closing Prayer

Giver of good gifts, thank you for teaching me to pray this week — not with better words, but with more honest ones. Whatever stayed with me, keep it growing. In Jesus' name, Amen.
